International Yoga Day Speech – Types of Yoga and Their Benefits

Good morning and Namaste to everyone!

A peaceful and healthy morning to all the respected guests, dear teachers, lovely students, and our yoga trainers.

I, [Your Name], feel very happy and proud to welcome you all to the International Yoga Day Celebration 2025.

Today, we are not just celebrating yoga as an event, we are celebrating yoga as a way of life. Yoga is not a new thing. It is more than 5,000 years old. It was born in India and today the whole world follows it.

It was our Honourable Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji who took yoga to the world stage by suggesting 21st June as the International Day of Yoga. The United Nations accepted it, and now every year, the whole world celebrates this day together.

Let us all come together today and learn something new about yoga, practice some yoga asanas, and enjoy the benefits of this ancient art.

Welcoming Our Chief Guest

Let us begin this event with a warm welcome to our chief guest for the day – [Chief Guest’s Name], a well-known wellness promoter and yoga practitioner.

Sir/Ma’am, we are truly honoured to have you here with us today. Your presence inspires us to live a healthy and balanced life.

I request you to please come on stage and light the ceremonial lamp to start our program with positivity and energy.

(Lamp Lighting Ceremony – soft instrumental music plays)

Thank you so much, sir/ma’am. As the light of the lamp removes darkness, let yoga remove all the stress and pain from our lives.

Introduction to Yoga

What is yoga?

Yoga means “union”, or “to join”. It is the union of our body, mind, and soul. It connects us with nature and helps us become calm, strong, and balanced. Yoga is not only for the body; it is also for our inner peace.

Now, we will begin our session with a short prayer to bring harmony and good thoughts.

(Prayer: Om Chanting / Gayatri Mantra)

Thank you for this peaceful start.

Segment: Types of Yoga and Their Benefits

Now let us learn something very interesting and useful – the different types of yoga and how each one helps us in our daily life.

Short Skit: Yoga vs Modern Life

Now, we will present a short skit that shows the difference between a person who does yoga every day and a person who lives a stressful life without yoga.

Please enjoy this meaningful drama by our students.

(Skit Presentation)

Thank you for this eye-opening skit. It clearly shows that a person with yoga lives a more balanced and happy life.

What an amazing and joyful performance. Thank you little stars!

Pledge for Healthy Life

Let us all now take a short pledge to live a healthier life with yoga.

Please repeat after me:

“I promise to practice yoga every day.
I will eat healthy food.
I will stay away from stress and anger.
I will help others learn yoga.
I will live a peaceful and healthy life.”

Thank you all.

It is not just for one day – it is for a lifetime.

Practice yoga, spread yoga, and live yoga.
