Welcome Speech

Good morning to everyone present here.
Respected principal, dear teachers, honoured guests, and my dear friends.
On behalf of our school/college/institution, I welcome you all to this very special program of International Youth Day.

Every year on 12th August, the world celebrates International Youth Day. This is a day dedicated to the power, energy, dreams, and voice of the youth. It reminds us that young people are not just the leaders of tomorrow but also the change-makers of today. The youth are like the bright morning sun that promises a new day full of hope.

Dear friends, today’s event is not just a celebration, but a reminder. It reminds us that our energy and ideas can build a better future. So, let us fill this day with learning, sharing, and inspiring each other.

Before we start, I want you all to give a big round of applause for yourself. Because each one of you here is a part of this beautiful youth family. Let’s clap louder! Yes, that’s the energy I want to feel all through the day.

To start our program, I request everyone to please rise for the national anthem.

(National Anthem Performance)

Thank you, everyone. Please take your seats.

First Act – Lighting of the Lamp

To start a program in India, we light the lamp as a symbol of knowledge, hope, and positivity. I would now like to invite our respected principal, our chief guest, and a few students to come forward and light the ceremonial lamp.

As the lamp is being lit, let us remember that the youth are the light of our society. Just like the flame of a lamp removes darkness, the energy of young people removes fear, ignorance, and negativity from the world.

(Background music of a soft instrumental plays while lighting the lamp)

Thank you to all our dignitaries for lighting the lamp and making this moment bright and special.

Welcoming the Guests

It is my honour to welcome our respected chief guest, who has dedicated his/her life to inspiring young people. Please give a warm round of applause as we invite them on stage.

We also have with us our respected principal, who always supports students in every step of life. And of course, our dear teachers, who guide us every day.

Let us welcome them with flowers as a token of our respect and love.

(Flower bouquet presentation)

Speech on International Youth Day – Chief Guest

Now, I invite our chief guest to share his/her words of wisdom with us. We are excited to hear your thoughts on the importance of youth in building the future.

(Chief Guest speaks)

Thank you so much, sir/ma’am, for your inspiring words. I am sure your message has touched the hearts of many young people here today.

Act – Youth Power Poem Recitation

Friends, words have the power to move our hearts. Our next act is a beautiful poem written and performed by one of our talented students. The poem is about the courage, dreams, and strength of the youth.

Please welcome [student name] with a big hand.

(Student recites poem)

Wow! That was truly powerful. Let’s clap louder for our young poet.

Short Youth Facts Segment

Do you know that young people between the ages of 15 and 24 make up about 16% of the world’s population? That’s more than 1.2 billion young minds full of ideas and dreams. Imagine if all of them worked together for a better future—what a world it would be!

This is why International Youth Day is so important—it gives us a reason to think about what role we want to play in society.

Act – Skit on Youth and Society

Now, we bring to you a small skit by our drama club. This skit shows how the voice of youth can bring change in a community. It is about a group of students who work together to solve a local problem.

Please enjoy and give them your full attention.

(Drama performance)

That was both entertaining and meaningful. A big round of applause for our drama team.

Motivational Song Performance

Music has a magic that can inspire our hearts. Next, we have a song performance dedicated to the dreams of young people. The song will remind us to never give up, no matter what challenges we face.

Please welcome [student/group name] on stage.

(Song performance)

That was so beautiful and full of hope. Thank you for lifting the spirit of the event.

Interactive Game – Quick Question Round

Let’s have a little fun. I am going to ask some quick questions related to youth and general knowledge. Whoever answers first will get a small prize. Are you ready?

  1. What is the date of International Youth Day? (Answer: 12th August)
  2. Who said, “Be the change that you wish to see in the world”? (Answer: Mahatma Gandhi)
  3. What is the theme of this year’s International Youth Day? (Answer depends on the year)

Thank you for your quick answers. Let’s give a cheer for our winners.

Act – Dance Performance

Youth is full of energy, and dance is the best way to show it. Please welcome our dance group with loud applause as they perform a special youth-themed dance for you.

(Dance performance)

What an amazing performance! Thank you to our talented dancers for filling the stage with life and energy.

Inspirational Story Sharing

Friends, now I will share with you a short real-life story of a young person who changed the world.

This is the story of Malala Yousafzai, a young girl from Pakistan who fought for the right of girls to go to school. Even after facing dangerous challenges, she never gave up. Today, she is the youngest Nobel Prize winner in the world.

Her story tells us that age is never a limit when you have courage.

Act – Pledge for Youth Responsibility

Let us now all take a short pledge together:

“I promise to use my energy and skills for the good of my society. I will work hard, respect others, and try to make the world a better place.”

Thank you for joining in this pledge.

Ending Speech

As we come to the end of our International Youth Day program, I want to thank each and every person who has been part of today’s celebration.

Dear friends, remember that the future is not something that will just happen—it is something we create every day. We, the youth, have the power to make it bright or dark. Let us choose to make it bright.

On this International Youth Day, let us take home three simple lessons:
Believe in yourself.
Work for your dreams.
Help others along the way.

I thank our respected chief guest for their valuable time and inspiring message. I thank our principal and teachers for their constant support. I thank all the participants for their beautiful performances. And lastly, I thank you—the audience—for being so active and encouraging.

Let’s keep the spirit of youth alive in our hearts every single day.

With that, I officially close today’s program.
Thank you and have a wonderful day ahead.

I can also add extra filler acts like youth quiz, slogan-making, or audience shout-outs to make it suitable for a longer stage program. Do you want me to expand it for a full 3-hour International Youth Day celebration version?
